Globesville XL – April 25th, 2013

The newest iteration of Globesville will showcase their work at a party on April 25th, 2013 in the Hall of Fame Lobby.

Old Westbury, NY – The NYIT Communication Arts Department recently announced Globesville XL. The event aims to inspire our members (alumni, current students, faculty, and staff) across our global campuses to share their experiences within the NYIT community through Globesville via our website and social media presence. The overall goal is to become the premier media outlet on and off campus; headed by Professor and Department Chair Donald Fizzinoglia, the students of the Communications Arts department are working to present new content to build off of last semester’s launch.

The gathering aspires to get the word out about Globesville and encourage our potential audience to help create a place where we all can come together. Be sure to RSVP on Facebook!

A Brief History of the Harlem Shake

Whilst the now larger-than-life EDM producer Baauer was in middle school, a trend was sweeping the nation in 2001 and depending on your age and/or disposition you may have even heard of it. That trend was the Harlem Shake.

Introduced to the world as part of the song ‘Let’s Get it’ performed by rappers G-Dep, Black Robb, and P-Diddy, the Harlem Shake became popular in the same vein of many of the era’s great dances. Despite its proliferation, the Harlem Shake fell by the wayside and lied dormant for over a decade, until the aforementioned Baauer brought it back from the dead with a hit of the same name. The song, appearing online in May of 2012 incorporates the vocal sample “Then do the Harlem Shake” from the song ‘Miller Time’ by the Plastic Little’s in reference to the original dance. So with that, enjoy a brief (and uninterrupted) history of the Harlem Shake ending with the greatest incarnation yet, the Globesville Harlem Shake.
