Brendan on Phi Eta Sigma

For his Glocal Minute this week, Journalism Team member Brendan McLaughlin comes to you from the NYIT Club Fair in the heart of the academic quad. He’s in front of the Phi Eta Sigma National Freshman Honor Society, and tells us how to join!

The society requires that you must have a GPA of 3.5 or higher. It comes with a plethora of trips and volunteer, enabling you to make friends while becoming an active member of the community.

Acceptance is only for Freshman, but it is a great item to put on your resume to help build connections at NYIT and beyond.

Joe Dash: How to use the Escape Latch

This week, Content Manager Joe Dash shows us how to use the escape latch inside the trunk. Most modern cars are equipped with a latch like this that allows you to escape in case you get closed in. This latch glows, so you can find it in the dark. Joe pulls the latch, and is instantly saved! Another crisis averted.

Andre goes to Moe’s

For his Glocal Minute this week Globesville’s Production Team leader Andrew Doughty traveled ten minutes from NYIT’s Old Westbury Campus to Moe’s Southwest Grill in Greenvale. It was particularly packed on this past Thursday, September 19 for Free Queso Day.

Andre highlights that this is the perfect outing for a college student on a tight budget, as you can use your student ID to receive $3 off your meal! Globesville Journalism Group leader Catherine Gullotta joined Andre and expressed a similar sentiment.

Danielle invites us to Town of Oyster Bay Ice Skating Rink!

For this week’s Glocal Minute, Journalism Team Member Danielle invites us to visit the Town of Oyster Bay Ice Skating Rink in Bethpage Long Island. As a teacher, she recommends ice skating as a great way to exercise for everyone. If you practice, hard maybe you can skate as well as she does! Danielle shows us her moves. They look pretty advanced!

Andre Heads to the Huntington Cinema Arts Center

This week Globvesville Production Team leader Andre Doughty visits the Huntington Cinema Arts Center for his Glocal Minute. After having seen his second movie he remarks on the great selection the theater offers, including a wide variety of independent films.

Jeanine tells all about Globesville

Globesville Production team member Jeanine Feudi reporting for her first Glocal Minute. She talks about her first day as a junior and NYIT student at Old Westbury, transferring from their Television Production program (that she originally enrolled in eight years ago in 2005) at Suffolk Country Community College in (What Campus), and her nervousness and fright therein. She also speaks briefly about “knowing this was the place for me” when she entered Globesville because of the “dedicated people” and “new and old faces”.

Bryant Park is a 9.6 acre privately managed public park located in Manhattan, it is located between Fifth and Sixth Avenues and between 40th and 42nd Streets in Midtown.
