Globesville’s resident Pop Culture Enthusiast Brendan McLaughlin has arrived in the pilot for his new show “Pop Goes the Culture”. The YouTube music awards premiered this past week. Held inside a warehouse at New York’s Pier 36, the show was hosted by movie star Jason Shwartzman and the multi-talented Reggie Watts. The show was completely unscripted and featured performances by Arcade Fire, Lady Gaga, and Eminem among others. The bizarre highlight of the show was Lady Gaga’s performance of her new single “Dope” during which she wept uncontrollably. Knowing Gaga this actually wasn’t too strange, but her outfit was another story. Clad in a lumberjack flannel and baseball cap Gaga performed with no pants on…yes, none at all. Kanye West postponed dates on his long awaited Yeezus Tour due to a crash of one of his equipment buses. The bus housed a sixty foot screen as well as another LED screen needed for the performance, thus the cancellation of dates in Vancouver, Minneapolis, Anaheim, and Denver. Regarding the equipment Kanye reportedly told his people “Central to the creative vision, it is impossible to put on the show”. Performer Kesha is banned from performing in the country of Malaysia. Malaysian government officials say that her live performances go against the country’s religious beliefs, Brittney Spears is back with a new album titled “Brittney Jean” coming in December. The ‘Oops I Did it Again’ singer released a single from that album titled “Perfume” that is a reflection of her career to this point, including her hazardous relationships. This will be Spears eighth studio album.
